Isn’t incredible that in the spiritual world you have two enemies: the devil and yourself.
“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”
1 Peter 5:8 NLT
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?”
Jeremiah 17:9 NLT
But while you have two enemies, you have THREE defenders: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit–the One God in three Persons.
“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”
John 14:26 NLT
We can take comfort in simple numbers. Even if our defender wasn’t God Almighty, the ultimate, infinite cosmic source of goodness and power waiting to unleash Himself for the sake of anyone who asks…3 is still greater than 2. Simple math can assure you that you’ll triumph in the end. I’m not saying it won’t be hard. You’ll have to fight, not your way, God’s way. But you’re fighting from a position of victory.
“And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”
Matthew 24:10-13 NLT
